ABOUT MULCH BLOWING

  • What is mulch blowing and how does it work?

Mulch blowing is a fast and efficient way to install mulch around your residential or commercial property. A specialized truck equipped with a blower feeds mulch into a long hose. The mulch is then directed through the hose by a high-velocity air stream, allowing for precise placement around your landscaping. This method eliminates the need for manual labor with wheelbarrows and shovels.

  • What are the benefits of mulch blowing?

    • Speed and efficiency: Mulch blowing can cover large areas in a fraction of the time it takes for manual spreading.
    • Cost-effective: Because it's faster than manual application, mulch blowing can be more cost-effective, even with equipment rental.
    • Uniform application: The blower ensures a consistent and even spread of mulch throughout your landscaping beds.
    • Accessibility: The long hose allows mulch to be blown into hard-to-reach areas like steep slopes, under trees, and around fences.
    • Reduced damage: The blower truck can stay parked away from your landscaping, minimizing the risk of damage to lawns or delicate plants
  • How thick will the mulch be applied?

We typically recommend an initial depth of 3 to 4 inches.  For ongoing maintenance, 1 to 2 inches of mulch can be reapplied each spring or fall.  Playgrounds and other high-traffic areas may require a deeper application (6 to 12 inches) for safety purposes.

  • Will mulch blowing damage my plants?

No, mulch blowing shouldn't harm your plants.  Experienced technicians can adjust the air pressure and volume to carefully place mulch around delicate plants. In fact,  the speed of mulch blowing can be faster than manual installation, reducing the time your plants are exposed.

  • How much does mulch blowing cost?

The cost of mulch blowing depends on several factors, including the quantity of mulch needed, the size of the area to be covered, and your location. Most companies offer free estimates – contact us to discuss your specific needs!

  • Do I need to prepare my landscaping before mulch blowing?

Yes, it's important to remove any weeds, leaves, or debris from the area where you want the mulch applied. This will ensure a clean and even application.  If you have new plantings, it's best to wait 2 weeks before mulch blowing around them.

  • What types of mulch do you offer?

We offer 3 types of mulch: dark brown mulch, natural mulch, and certified playground mulch.
